Sometimes gas stations put a temporary hold on your account for an amount that is higher than the actual gas purchase you made. This is done as a pre-authorization hold to ensure your account has enough funds to cover the purchase. Once the actual purchase amount is finalized, the pre-authorization hold is removed, and the actual amount is charged to your account. However, it can take a few days for the hold to be released and for the actual charge to appear on your statement.
If you notice a transaction on your dashboard that is higher than the amount of gas you purchased, it is possible that the pre-authorization hold has not yet been released, and the actual charge will be reflected on your dashboard in a few days.
